Blood Testing

Introducing Blood Testing at Dental Rooms

At Dental Rooms, we believe exceptional dentistry starts with understanding your overall health.

We are delighted to introduce our new Blood Testing Service in Wimbledon Village, offering convenient, clinician-led health screening to help identify common nutritional deficiencies and health markers that may influence both your general wellbeing and your oral health.

Whether you're experiencing fatigue, recurring mouth ulcers, bleeding gums, delayed healing, or simply want greater insight into your health, our blood testing service provides fast, reliable results in a comfortable clinical environment.

Why Choose Blood Testing at Dental Rooms?

Unlike many health screening providers, our clinicians understand the close relationship between oral health and general health.

Research continues to show strong links between nutritional deficiencies, inflammation, diabetes and oral diseases including:

  • Gum disease (Periodontitis)
  • Slow healing following dental treatment
  • Recurrent mouth ulcers
  • Dry mouth
  • Oral infections
  • Poor implant healing
  • Increased risk of tooth loss

By identifying underlying health factors early, we can help support not only your smile but your overall wellbeing.

What Does Our Blood Test Include?

Our introductory screening package includes three important health markers:

HbA1c

Measures your average blood sugar levels over the previous 2–3 months.

This test helps identify:

  • Prediabetes
  • Type 2 diabetes risk
  • Blood sugar control

High blood sugar levels are closely linked with gum disease and delayed healing following dental procedures.

HbA1c
Vitamin D

Vitamin D plays an important role in:

  • Bone health
  • Healthy teeth
  • Immune function
  • Gum health
  • Implant success

Low Vitamin D levels are surprisingly common and may contribute to:

  • Fatigue
  • Muscle weakness
  • Poor healing
  • Increased susceptibility to infections
Vitamin D
Ferritin

Ferritin measures your body's iron stores.

Low ferritin may contribute to:

  • Tiredness
  • Low energy
  • Hair loss
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Burning mouth symptoms
  • Reduced healing
Why Blood Testing Matters for Your Oral Health

Many patients are surprised to learn that oral symptoms can sometimes be the first sign of an underlying health condition.

Blood testing may help explain:

✔ Frequent mouth ulcers

✔ Bleeding gums

✔ Persistent gum inflammation

✔ Delayed healing after dental treatment

✔ Dry mouth

✔ Increased susceptibility to infection

✔ Fatigue affecting daily wellbeing

Our clinicians take a holistic approach, helping identify whether further medical assessment may be beneficial.

The Connection Between Dentistry & Overall Health

At Dental Rooms, we don't just treat teeth.

Our philosophy is centred on preventative, personalised healthcare.

Understanding nutritional deficiencies and important health markers allows us to provide safer, more informed dental care and, where appropriate, recommend discussions with your GP regarding your results.

Our blood testing service complements our specialist dental care by helping patients better understand factors that may influence healing, gum health and long-term oral wellness.

Personalised Blood Testing
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the appointment take?

Approximately 10–20 minutes.

Do I need to fast?

Our current screening tests do not usually require fasting. We will advise you when booking if any preparation is needed.

Will I receive my results?

Yes. Your results will be reviewed and explained to you, with recommendations where appropriate.

Is this a diagnostic medical service?

No. Blood testing provides valuable health information but does not replace your GP or specialist medical care. If any abnormalities are identified, we may recommend further assessment by your GP.

Why is blood testing offered at a dental practice?

Many systemic health conditions can affect the mouth, gums and healing after dental treatment. Our clinicians recognise these links and use blood testing to support a more holistic approach to oral healthcare.
