If you have healthy teeth and gums then you may wish to speak to your dentist Wimbledon here at Dental Rooms and find out about cosmetic dentistry to help improve the aesthetics of your smile. There are many different factors which can affect the way you feel about your smile, but here at our surgery we have a wide range of cosmetic dental treatments which can help address these issues.

Teeth whitening is the most commonly sought after cosmetic dental procedure and we are able to help you address teeth staining and discolouration which may be affecting your self-confidence and the way you feel about your smile. Yellow teeth and discolouration can occur as a result of many different factors and there are different types of staining which need to be addressed differently. Extrinsic stains are the most common type of staining and are found on the surface of your teeth, they are usually a result of poor oral hygiene and lifestyle choices such as smoking and chewing tobacco. These types of stains can be treated using teeth whitening procedures.

Teeth whitening at home

According to your personal preferences our dentist can prescribe a home treatment kit for whitening your teeth gradually in the comfort of your own home. These are highly effective and popular, while being safe and convenient to use. Home whitening kits consist of dental trays and a whitening gel, which is made up of a combination of hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide in differing concentrations, according to whether it is the day treatment or the night treatment. The gel needs to be placed into the tray and worn in your mouth for approximately an hour during the day and overnight whilst you sleep. It acts as a bleaching agent to gently break down the stain molecules on the surface of your teeth to help restore the natural shine of your enamel. Home treatment kits are usually prescribed for approximately three weeks and with a combination of good dental hygiene you will have a beautiful smile that you can be proud of.

Zoom whitening at the dentist

If you are looking for a faster and more dramatic treatment option then you may wish to speak to us and find out about Zoom whitening. This involves applying a hydrogen peroxide gel directly onto your teeth which is activated using a specialised lamp to accelerate the bleaching process. This is done at the surgery under the careful supervision of our experienced dentist and is carried out in 3 sessions of 15 minutes each, taking a total of 45 minutes to complete. You will be provided with a home touchup kit, so that with good oral hygiene you will be able to maintain your beautiful white smile for as long as possible.
