The patient presented with an unerupted upper left lateral incisor (UL2). Given the tooth’s prolonged absence from the arch, we sought a hospital opinion and arranged a CBCT scan to assess the position and health of the unerupted tooth and adjacent structures. The scan revealed a hooked root morphology, with no signs of external resorption or ankylosis, suggesting a mechanical failure of eruption rather than a pathological cause. These findings supported a conservative, non-surgical approach.
Together with the child and their supportive parents, we planned a phased treatment. This early intervention helps to create space, improve arch coordination, and intercept developing malocclusions.
To preserve the aesthetics of the smile and support the patient’s confidence, Dr Samir Patel placed a resin-bonded bridge to temporarily replace the missing lateral incisor. The bridge was carefully designed to be minimally invasive, avoid damage to the adjacent teeth, and remain functional and cosmetic throughout the patient’s growth period.
